Saunter Along Bishop Hill’s Enchanted Mile...

To saunter, a holy pilgrimage with Latin roots, saint terra, sacred earth; to saunter is the best way to stroll through this Utopia on the Prairie that is Bishop Hill. Our Enchanted Mile is an invitation to take in all that this historic village has to offer. Start your tour anywhere in Bishop Hill and you can walk the entire perimeter of the town in less than a mile! From the Henry County Museum on the far southwest corner of town to the Outsider Gallery on the Northeast edge it is only a seven block walk with a dozen shops and museums to distract you along the way. From Hantverk Galleri at the north end of the main street to The Bishop Hill Museum, home of the Olof Krans Art Collection on the south end is just 5 blocks. We encourage you to visit at least 10 of the more than 30 shops, galleries and museums. Get your passport stamped in each and you will be entered into an annual drawing for handmade crafts and other souvenirs of your visit to Bishop Hill’s Enchanted Mile. You can pick up a passport in most buildings and drop them off at the Welcome Center. Don’t forget to slow down, saunter, pause and peruse the flowers.
